Published Jul 06, 2015A lot of Tokyo Police Club's Canadian fans grew up alongside the band; many followed them from early performances in tiny Southern Ontario dive bars right up until now, as they play stages at some of Canada's biggest festivals. With the recent release of frontman Dave Monks' solo EP, titled All Signs Point to Yes, longtime fans will get a chance to see him perform in simpler, more intimate settings once again.
Monks came in to play such a set for Exclaim! TV. Absent of the beach balls and enthusiastic sing-alongs we've grown accustomed to at his shows, he performs a stripped-down version of his nostalgia-inducing single, "Summer Dream," on our back patio.
The performance begins with gentle strumming that soon becomes the backdrop to a story about summer dreams from the past; the breezy guitar work and lyrical content make the sunny back porch a perfect setting.
