Published Sep 03, 2019Late EDM superstar Avicii will be honoured with a memorial concert, dubbed the Avicii Tribute Concert for Mental Health Awareness, later this year.
The event in honour of the artist born Tim Bergling will take place on December 5 at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, and will feature performances from Avicii's collaborators and friends.
It will open with DJ sets from David Guetta, Kygo, Laidback Luke, Dmitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Nicky Romero, followed by live performances of Avicii's hits featuring vocal performances by Adam Lambert, Rita Ora, Aloe Blacc, Alex Ebert, Audra Mae, Joe Janiak, Amanda Wilson, Bonn, Dan Tyminski, Nick Furlong, Blondfire, Otto Knows, Sandro Cavazza, Simon Aldred, Vargas & Lagola, and Zak Abel — alongside a 30-piece band.
The show is being organized by the Tim Bergling Association, and in a statement it said: "We want this concert to help put the topic on the agenda and pay attention to the stigma surrounding mental illness and suicide. Policies and tools are needed to detect the risks and prevent suicide, especially among young people."
All proceeds from the concert will go towards organizations that advocate for mental health and suicide prevention.
As previously reported, Bergling died of an apparent suicide in 2018.
