Published May 14, 2013Danish indie-pop experimenters Efterklang spent much of 2012 supporting their fourth full-length LP, Piramida, out on tour, and some of those live performances are being preserved on an upcoming concert fittingly titled The Piramida Concert. The live package arrives June 10 on double LP and as a digital download.
The band announced the set through their website and explained that The Piramida Concert was recorded over the course of two sold-out performances at Copenhagen's Royal Academy of Music Concert Hall last October. The members of Efterklang were joined on stage for these special performances by Peter Broderick, Katinka Fogh Vindelev, Siouxsie and the Banshees vet Budgie, the Copenhagen Phil orchestra and conductor André de Ridder to play Piramida in its entirety.
Two additional songs also made their way into the setlist. New tune "So" was written during the Piramida sessions but makes its official debut on the live set. Also included is classical piece "Vælv," which was commissioned by Efterklang and composed by fellow Dane Karsten Fundal.
Prior to the performances in Copenhagen, the orchestral staging of Piramida premiered in May 2012 at the Sydney Opera House.
The vinyl version of The Piramida Concert arrives on double vinyl (with one LP pressed on white wax and the other on black), comes housed in a double gatefold cover, and includes a CD of the concert. Pre-orders are being taken over here.
