Published Aug 07, 2019Long-running Toronto cover band Dwayne Gretzky are gearing up to release their self-titled debut album, and they've just unveiled a new track from the LP — "Make It Wit Chu."
The track is a cover of a Queens of the Stone Age song from 2007's Era Vulgaris, and the band chose to redo the song with a focus on the play between masculine and feminine elements.
They also made it way more dance-able.
"For our version, we reimagined the song as a pulsing, electronic-pop dance track- as if Kylie Minogue wandered into Daft Punks's studio," the band's Nick Rose tells Exclaim! "We wanted to keep it dark and sparse, while maintaining the analog elements and energy of a live band. By turning the song on its head and having a woman sing lead, the lyrical perspective becomes more about female empowerment."

As previously reported, Dwayne Gretzky is out on August 23.
