Taylor Swift Sent Out Signed Copies of 'folklore' to Indie Record Stores

Maybe this really is her indie album after all
Taylor Swift Sent Out Signed Copies of 'folklore' to Indie Record Stores
Taylor Swift's recent folklore album came as a surprise release for several reasons. Not only did she skip the promo cycle and release the album the same day it was announced, she created her first "indie" album, roping in dudes from the National and Bon Iver to lend a hand. Now she's doubling down on the indie by surprising independent record stores with signed copies of folklore.

As multiple record stores have shown, they were treated to copies of the album signed by Swift herself, Stereogum points out. All day, various stores have been showing off walls of signed copies, and by the looks of things, they are moving quick.

At a time when COVID-19 is dealing a brutal blow to brick-and-mortar record stores, it's hard to argue that this isn't a pretty cool move by Swift. The one thing that may get her some minus hipster points, however, is that it appears only signed CD copies are available. After all, we all know how much the cool kids love those vinyls.
