Alex Trebek Shares Posthumous Message of Hope for the Future
"Keep the faith, we're going to get through all this — and we will be a better society because of it"
Published Nov 26, 2020Alex Trebek may be gone from this plane, but never from our hearts. Before his passing on November 8, he made sure to offer one last message of hope for his fans amid COVID restrictions that have made it difficult for families to gather on American Thanksgiving.
Today, the late Jeopardy! host has posthumously shared an address from the series' studio, asking his followers to keep the faith this weekend, and throughout the rest of the devastating pandemic.
"Happy Thanksgiving, ladies and gentlemen," he began. "In spite of what America and the rest of the world is experiencing right now, there are many reasons to be thankful. There are more and more people extending helpful hands to do a kindness to their neighbours, and that's a good thing."
He added: "Keep the faith, we're going to get through all this — and we will be a better society because of it."
Trebek passed away earlier this month after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The beloved game show host was 80 years old.
His final episode of Jeopardy! will air on Christmas Day. When the series returns, former contestant and GOAT championship participant Ken Jennings will temporarily take Trebek's place behind the podium. The series has yet to announce a permanent replacement, though there are some hopefuls vying for the position.
