Amy Winehouse Will Tour as a Hologram
Published Oct 11, 2018Like Ronnie James Dio and Chief Keef before her, Amy Winehouse will soon tour the world as a hologram.
Reuters reports that the singer's father, Mitch Winehouse, confirmed that tour is in the works. Set to debut in 2019, the shows will feature a live band accompanying vocals from Amy's original recordings. All proceeds from the shows will benefit the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
"We felt this would be a tremendous way for Amy both to revisit her fans through a hologram, and also an incredible way to raise money for our foundation," Mitch Winehouse said in an interview.
The Winehouse hologram will be created by BASE Hologram, which has produced hologram tours for Roy Orbison and opera singer Maria Callas. The company will hire an actress to mimic the singer's stage moves to create the hologram, completing the image with prosthetics and CGI.
Winehouse's 2006 LP Back to Black will be revisited with a new documentary arriving next month, featuring previously unseen footage in addition to new interviews with producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi. The film is out on DVD and Blu-ray on November 2 via Eagle Vision.
