Nelly Settles Sexual Assault and Defamation Lawsuit
Published Sep 27, 2018Nelly has mutually settled with a woman who sued him for sexual assault and defamation last year after claiming she was raped on his tour bus.
As TMZ reports, the rapper's attorney said both parties agreed dismiss their cases. A representative for Nelly (born Cornell Iral Haynes, Jr.) also confirmed to Pitchfork that "both parties have mutually agreed to drop the lawsuit. No settlement or money changed hands."
Green's attorney, Karen Koehler, told TMZ that both parties dismissed the case, though she disputes the claim from Nelly's camp that no money changed hands.
Last October, Nelly was arrested on allegations of rape while on tour in the United States. After he claimed he was "completely innocent," the case was dropped by the prosecutor's office after the "alleged victim's refusal to cooperate made it impossible for them to go forward."
In December, Monique Greene filed a lawsuit against the rapper claiming sexual assault and defamation, alleging that she had been sexually assaulted on his tour bus following a performance in Seattle. Earlier that month, Nelly's attorney Scott Rosenblum told TMZ he had plans to countersue.
