Protest the Hero Offshoot Mystery Weekend Announce Debut 'Surprise!' LP
Having recently had the full version of their Pacific Myth subscription download series wash ashore, Protest the Hero vocalist Rody Walker and drummer Mike Ieradi have detailed a new musical project. Alongside Dan Hay (the Fully Down, Amos the Transparent), the two have formed trio Mystery Weekend.

Described in a Facebook post as music for those who like "skate punk, pop punk, or having a laugh," the trio also revealed that their debut LP titled Surprise! will arrive February 17. The record was recorded by Dean Hadji at Ottawa's All Buttons In studio.

Alongside the album announcement, the trio has shared two songs for a taste of what's to come. As you can hear through taking in "Theodore" and "The Obscenity Prayer" in the player below, the material leans more towards pop punk than Protest the Hero's well-loved progressive metal mastery, though a bridge section in the latter track may have you thinking twice.

While we await further details on Surprise!, find "Theodore" and "The Obscenity Prayer" below. You can also follow Mystery Weekend on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
