SOCAN Songwriting Prize Announces 2021 Finalists
The 16th annual SOCAN Songwriting Prize is celebrating the next generation of brilliance in Canadian music creation by announcing its finalists for 2021.

Today, SOCAN announced this year's  finalists, with 10 in the English category and10 in the French category. Nominees this year include DijahSB, Clairmont The Second, Savannah Ré, Valley and LU KALA, among others.

Down below, you can see the full list of nominees in both the English and French categories.

"In a very challenging year, the 2021 SOCAN Songwriting prize finalists showed that great works of art can emerge from hard times," SOCAN interim CEO Jennifer Brown said in a statement. "As the pandemic continues to impact music creators disproportionately, we are pleased to maintain a prize structure that supports as many SOCAN members as possible."

This is the second year SOCAN will be awarding cash prizes to all 20 nominees, as financial stresses continue to disproportionately impact the music sector. The grand prize winners will each receive $5,000, a Yamaha keyboard and a $500 Long & McQuade gift card.

Fans can vote for their favourite song in each category once daily from June 17 to July 1 here. Winners will be announced the week of July 5.
